The Legend of Zelda franchise has taken a step in a dramatically different direction with Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. In the newest editions to our beloved series, players are encouraged to explore a vast and open world, with over a hundred unique locations spread across many regions. Many people find themselves getting lost in corners of map for what feels like forever, and spending dozens of hours checking every nook and cranny to find something new.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you feel about long movies) the upcoming Zelda film will probably be reduced to roughly 90-120 minutes, forcing the script writers to narrow down the places we get to witness Link visit on the big screen. There are a handful of “safe bets” on what locations will make it into the movie, including Hyrule Castle, Death Mountain, Gerudo Valley, Zora’s Domain, the Lost Woods, and the Great Deku Tree. Aside from that, it’s a pretty open world (see what I did there?) They could even take locations that aren’t found in the “Wild Era” Hyrule. So, here are my top five hopes for where what areas and locations we will see in the Zelda movie:

  1. Hebra: For many, this region feels like it will be a shoe-in, especially given its prevalence in newer games. I respectfully disagree, but I enjoy the idea of Link, Zelda, and their companions making their way through a frozen tundra in search for a key part of their quest in the movie.
  2. Akkala Citadel: I don’t think there’s a single person who doesn’t want to know what’s inside that dang castle. While I’d much rather enter it on my own as a player, I’ll settle for watching Link do it in the movie… for now.
  3. Ancient Cistern: While this may require some time travel or a very specific film in terms of timeline placement, I have such a fascination with this dungeon, and would love to see it painted in the hue of that classic Hollywood magic. It would be simply beautiful.
  4. Kakariko Village: Like Hebra, many would be shocked to have a Zelda movie that doesn’t have this classic town in it. I’m hoping they go all-out, giving us a bustling settlement where we see Link meet Impa and gain vital knowledge and tools for his quest.
  5. Arbiter’s Grounds: I struggle with how this would play a predominant role in most Zelda movies, but I just love this dungeon so much, and the lore that could be revealed if they show it in the film is just too juicy.

What do you think of my list? What in-game locations or areas would you want to see in the Zelda movie? Let’s explore together in the comments below!
