The announcement of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom has once again brought a carnival of excitement and speculation to the fanbase. Among this speculation is the map and locations in the Hyrule of Echoes — namely, that the map appears to resemble that of A Link to the Past and A Link Between Worlds. Even with the evident presence of something looking like the Eastern Palace, The Great Swamp, and the “original” Death Mountain, there are areas that appear new to what could be an old map, such as a jungle akin to the Faron Woods, and a more “modern-appearing” Death Mountain with fire and magma coming down the mountaintop.

While we may feel that we have a solid idea on what locations we might be visiting in Echoes of Wisdom, the possibilities really are endless, especially when including the potential for what might lie under the rifts that are swallowing up Hyrule like the Chasms in Tears of the Kingdom. Here’s my short list of what areas I’m looking forward to exploring in Echoes:

  1. “Eastern Palace”: One of my favorite spots in A Link to the Past and an opportunity for an expansive on the lore behind what many assume to be the downfall timeline, I’m looking forward to exploring this area with Zelda and seeing what changes have been made and what they took from previous titles. Mostly, I’ll be looking forward to seeing how they take the thematic dungeon music from Link to the Past and Link Between Worlds dungeons and apply it to this one.
  2. “Zora’s Waterfall”: Maybe this is the tropical flora we see in the trailer, and most likely where the pending meeting between the two types of Zora from the franchise takes place. I really look forward to seeing what this reveals to us in terms of lore, history, and in-game story. Maybe we’ll get some underwater exploration along with it!
  3. “Hyrule Castle/Castle Town”: Every edition Castle Town brings a new opportunity for NPC’s, side quests, and a glimpse into the life and culture of Hyrule at a given time in history. The way it’s built around Hyrule Castle also tells a story, and may (hopefully) play a role in how you traverse Hyrule Castle itself.

What do you think of my list? What areas are you most excited to check out in Echoes of Wisdom? Let us know in the comments!
