Daily Debate: Was Demise’s Difficulty Too High In Comparison to Other Boss Fights in Skyward Sword?

I recently finished Skyward Sword for the very first time!  Skyward Sword had a lot of memorable boss fights, and some of those boss fights were quite the challenge, but no boss fight was as challenging as the game’s penultimate boss, Demise. I had a few Game Over’s throughout the game, but before Demise I never really struggled on bosses all that much. Demise felt like it was in another difficulty bracket all together. So, was he too hard in comparison to the other bosses?

It took five tries before I successfully defeated Demise and sealed him away in the Master Sword. I had three bottles of heart potion (I didn’t have the items to upgrade those potions), and two life medals in my pouch but Demise was kicking my green clad tail over and over again.  It took awhile for me to figure out a strategy, and by round five I just kind of hacked and slashed away until my adrenaline took over and I won. Maybe I struggled because it was my first time playing , or maybe I had a poor strategy. It was difficult, but it’s still doable. I found that other bosses in the game seemed easy by comparison. Next to Demise, fighting The Imprisoned the second and third times are probably the second and third hardest in the game in my opinion. Other than that, the other boss fights were a breeze. I would not call the difficulty jump between Demise and the other late bosses a complaint, but it is definitely noticeable. Part of me could wish that there was a better balance between like the last two or three bosses leading up to Demise, but it is what it is, and that doesn’t change that I really loved Skyward Sword.
