With about only a month left until the “Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2” live event, one can’t help but wonder what role – if any – the Zelda series might play on April 2nd, 2025. Although we don’t know how in-depth this Direct will go in regards to the Switch 2’s software lineup, my hope is that it’s comparable to the original Switch’s January 2017 presentation. If that is indeed the case, then – by the end of the showcase – we should have a solid roadmap of the Switch 2’s first six-to-eight months. And given Zelda’s status as a de facto annualized series, I would be surprised if we didn’t see Link at all in 2025.

From there, it’s a question of what type of Zelda game we might see during the presentation. It has been over four years since the latest Hyrule Warriors installment – maybe we’ll see its grand return this year? On the other hand, fans have been clamoring for re-releases of Twilight Princess and The Wind Waker since the Switch’s early days. And though this isn’t particularly likely, we might be far enough removed from Tears of the Kingdom’s launch to get a brief glimpse of the next mainline Zelda entry.

Regardless of likelihood, though, I’m curious: what do you hope to see as Zelda’s debut Switch 2 title? Personally, for as much as I’d look forward to another Warriors game, I’d rather see those aforementioned re-releases on Switch 2 first. Let’s make some dreams come true right out of the gate, Nintendo, y’know? Not only for me, but also the legion of Zelda fans who started with Breath of the Wild and have yet to experience these two iconic adventures.

Again, what about you? What type of Zelda game do you hope to see on Switch 2 first? If not another Warriors game, then perhaps a brand new spin-off altogether? If not Twilight Princess and The Wind Waker, then maybe a proper remake of another title such as Ocarina of Time? Let us know in the comments below!
