Daily Debate: In Your Opinion So Far, Is Tears of the Kingdom Really a 10/10 Game?
Posted on May 20 2023 by Vitor Mansano
In just three days after its launch, Tears of the Kingdom has already reached the mark of ten million copies sold. The number is not only impressive in itself: the game has become the best seller in The Legend of Zelda series so far.
The sheer success of this highly anticipated title was to be expected, but the positive feedback has been overwhelming from fans and critics alike. Several platforms, including the famous and respected Japanese magazine Famitsu, gave their maximum score (40/40) to Zelda and Link’s new adventure. Tears of the Kingdom follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, Breath of the Wild, which also scored full marks.
All this buzz only makes expectations about the game, which are already quite high, even higher. In my opinion, even with only a few hours of gameplay, I can already say that the game does manage to deliver everything it promised. The feeling of familiarity and déjà vu goes away quickly, if it appears at all (incidentally, this was one of the subjects covered in the most recent edition of Ask the Developer, an interview series with Nintendo developers). Link’s new mechanics and abilities are introduced right at the beginning of the adventure, right after a breathtaking prologue. In addition, you can already feel the massive size of Hyrule, which now has its sky and underground explorable as well. It is even difficult to follow a single quest without being interrupted by the urge to deviate from my path and discover new secrets and face new enemies (even knowing that I am clearly not ready to do so yet).
Now we want to hear from you, player. What are your thoughts about Tears of the Kingdom so far? Are you like me, counting down the hours to get home from work and turn on your Nintendo Switch? Are you still not able to form a concrete opinion? Or maybe you’re finding the game lukewarm for now? Let us know in the comments below.
