Daily Debate: If You Could Be In Any Version of Hyrule, Which Would You Choose, And Who Would You Be?
Posted on May 12 2019 by Heather Beard
Over the years we’ve seen many iterations of Hyrule and its inhabitants. We’ve seen an evolution of the different races, the landscape, and of the Hylians in general. If you could choose a Hyrule to inhabit, where would you choose? Would you choose the land of The Great Sea where you would travel by boat to different islands? Would you choose a land that was formerly steeped in Twilight? What about a land before the foundation of Hyrule; a land among the clouds? There are many versions of Hyrule in the Zelda universe to choose from, but this writer would choose the Hyrule of Breath of the Wild.
Now before I go into the why, we need to discuss the kind of person I would want to be? Breath of the Wild features many races and many places to live. There are the Hylians, the Rito, the Gorons, the Zora, and the all female Gerudo. Now I’m not a fan of extreme heat one bit so the Gorons and the Gerudo are out for me. I could see myself living among the Zora and enjoying the cool temperate Lanayru region. It would also be amazing to fly among the Rito on my own wings. Honestly though, I would enjoy just being a Hylian.
I would want to be a Hylian that is brave and adventurous. One who grew up hearing tales of the hero and the princess with goddess blood. I could see myself being a world traveler, chasing myths, and exploring the vast region that Breath of the Wild gives us. I could see myself living off the land like Link, enjoying the view, and meeting new people. Every day would be an adventure.
What about you? Where would you go, and what would you choose to be? Sound off the in the comments below!
