Daily Debate: How Do You Approach Information About a New Zelda Game Before Its Release?
Posted on September 16 2024 by Heather Beard
It is officially release month for Echoes of Wisdom! Over the last few weeks we’ve gotten a lot of new information about the newest Zelda game, but how do you approach the influx of information ahead of a new release in The Legend of Zelda’s growing library of games?
Personally, it depends on the game. When Tears of the Kingdom was announced I watched every trailer that Nintendo released and followed information, videos, and trailers very close all the way up to when I popped the game into my Switch for the first time. The only thing I stayed clear of were leaks and spoilers. I am taking a very different approach with Echoes of Wisdom. I watched the initial trailer and what Nintendo released regarding The Still World, but after that I edged off. I have not gone to the extreme of avoiding any new news about Zelda’s first adventure on her own, but I’m wanting to save all of the little details and surprises for when I sit down with the game for the first time. I’ve seen things online in passing, but I have not dug deeper like I did for Tears of the Kingdom. I find that there’s something special about leaving yourself in the dark regarding releases of new games or movies. We live in an age where information is always at our fingertips so doing this for myself will be a reward in the end.
I find my approach about new for new games, especially Zelda games, to vary. Knowing that we’re about to get a game where we play as Zelda for the very first time made me want to save as much as I could as a surprise. It gives me the chance to go in without much an opinion and I’ll be able to form my thoughts as I play.
I want to know your thoughts though, how do you approach information about a new Zelda game before its release? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
Hi I’m Heather! I’m Senior Editor and Art Director at Zelda Dungeon and I’ve been a member of the ZD team since 2019. I am a graphic designer, artist, and nerdy mom to an awesome little boy. When my nose isn’t in a book, working on my novel or watching anime you can find me curled up with my cats Mandy-Lynn and Daisy Mae.
