Daily Debate: Do You Ever Need a Break from Zelda Games?
Posted on April 07 2024 by Heather Beard

In the world of video games there is quite a lot to enjoy. Personally I enjoy a variety of games, but there are a few series that will always be at the very top of my list; The Legend of Zelda being in that top spot, but do you ever need a break from Zelda games?
Given how many hobbies I have and how often I rotate through them to enjoy all of them, yes, I need a break from Zelda games. Once I beat Tears of the Kingdom I moved on to appreciate another title, but then I looped back to Zelda once again to finish A Link Between Worlds for the first time. I have a hard time playing multiple games at once and I often like to complete a game before starting something different.
So for instance, once I finished A Link Between Worlds I’ve been taking a bit of a Zelda break. As someone that writes and makes are for a Zelda site I feel like sometimes we need a bit of a buffer to enjoy other media. I really enjoy playing Elder Scrolls Online, but there are times when I wonder, “What if a Zelda game has this kind of set up?” Or I am an avid reader and I’ll be in the middle of a novel and think, “What if a Zelda game had this kind of a plot twist?” The Daily Debate title might seem a little misleading if you think about one “needing a break,” but I feel like it’s important to indulge in other kinds of media now and again. I feel like it brings appreciation to a series and can sometimes lead to discovering Zelda-like games, Tunic, being one that I picked up a while back and greatly enjoyed.
What are your thoughts though. Do you ever need a break from Zelda games? Why or why not? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Hi I’m Heather! I’m Senior Editor and Art Director at Zelda Dungeon and I’ve been a member of the ZD team since 2019. I am a graphic designer, artist, and nerdy mom to an awesome little boy. When my nose isn’t in a book, working on my novel or watching anime you can find me curled up with my cats Mandy-Lynn and Daisy Mae.
