Daily Debate: Do We Need a Zelda-Themed Nintendo Switch?
Posted on April 16 2020 by Heather Beard
Nintendo has been really good about putting out themed consoles at the launch of large games. The most recent themed console was for Animal Crossing: New Horizons and its colors were gorgeous. Themed consoles are sought after by collectors and gamers alike. So why haven’t we seen a Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch?
One could argue that there are Zelda-themed accessories for the Switch, thus making a Zelda-themed Switch, but that’s not what I’m talking about. Why hasn’t Nintendo released an actual console with a Triforce theme, or some else that embodies The Legend of Zelda as a series? My initial thoughts are that themed consoles were probably not on the forefront of Nintendo’s mind when the Switch launched in 2017. My other thought is that Nintendo has the perfect opportunity to release a themed console at the launch of Breath of the Wild 2. Are themed consoles a money grab? Maybe, but to those who don’t have a Switch, or have money and are avid collectors, they’re fun additions to any gaming console family.
What do you think? Should we have a Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch? If there was one would you buy it? Sound off in the comments below.
