It’s been a little more than a year since Tears of the Kingdom released, and a year later, I find myself in another replay. While this game was full of surprises, one of my favorites was the addition of low gravity puzzle-solving.

On my first play through last year, when I was greeted by this mechanic, I was pleasantly surprised. Seeing low gravity in the trailers made me a bit nervous that it would be clunky or hard to control, and I was happy to find out that it was the opposite. The low-gravity sections felt great to move around in, and floating around like an astronaut felt so fun!

The puzzles in these sections, however, is what makes them. I found myself having to think a little harder about them, and making up creative solutions involving the physics of the area. Combat also benefits from these areas — flying through the area and slamming down upon those Soldier Constructs is super satisfying, and makes for a great experience.

Bouncing around the Water Temple, and the area leading up to it felt great, having to ascend floating waterfalls, but be able to time your trajectory just right made this ascent feel satisfying, and having the added challenge of fighting Mucktorok in this kind of gravity made the Water Temple all the more fun to play. The few mini-boss battles scattered throughout the sky that employed low gravity were also fun, and gave new strategy to fights against the Zonai Constructs. The puzzle orbs that grant Shrines with low gravity were also quite fun, and made me think outside the box to get that next Light of Blessing.

But what do you think? Were the low gravity sections fun for you? Or did you find them strange and clunky? Let us know in the comments below.
