The recent Link’s Awakening remake on Nintendo Switch has been a huge success by any determinable metric. While some fans bristled at the full price tag, the new art style was extremely endearing and the game has many wonderful quality-of-life enhancements. Additionally, it was great to see Nintendo give so much love to a classic Game Boy title. The game has sold over 4 millions copies, and it is likely to sell more as people continue to buy Nintendo Switch consoles.

This “Tal Tal Heights” cover by Blue Brew Music is a slick arrangement that feels like it could have been ripped straight from the Nintendo Switch remake. The song opens with a steady percussion, which sounds reminiscent of a marimba, that sets the tempo. The song is anchored with a smooth acoustic guitar that carries the melody throughout the piece. Finally, the cover uses a sound that is reminiscent of a distorted whistle or flute to flesh out the arrangement.

While other covers of “Tal Tal Heights” can be quite dramatic and epic, the accompanying acoustic guitar and distorted flute combine to create a more relaxing atmosphere. It would be great to hear Blue Brew Music cover other Link’s Awakening songs using this instrumentation. Songs like “Mabe Village” and “Ballad of the Wind Fish” would sound great with this instrumentation.
