Even years after I first played it, The Wind Waker remains one of my all time favorite video games. The Wind Waker has a beautiful art style, a lovable cast of characters, and some of the best music in the Zelda series. Additionally, The Great Sea is one of the most distinct settings in the Zelda series, and sailing across the vast waters is a spectacular experience that very few games (if any) have recreated. While we may never get the long-speculated Nintendo Switch port of The Wind Waker, fans can always go back to their GameCubes and Wii-Us to replay the game.

This piano rendition of “The Great Sea” (sometimes called “Ocean”) by Kara Comparetto Klips is a great piece to listen to when you are looking to relax. This cover captures the joyful and upbeat energy that makes the original song so iconic, but it also has a softer, less bombastic sound than the original version of the song. “The Great Sea” works well as a solo piano piece, and I would love to hear a piano version of the song appear in a future Zelda project or in the Super Smash Bros. series.

If you enjoyed this cover of “The Great Sea,” Kara Comparetto Klips has variety of other Zelda content on their YouTube channel including a thirty minute Zelda medley, as well as covers of “Zelda’s Lullaby,”  “Hyrule Castle,” and “Serenade of Water.” Additionally, Kara Comparetto Klips has a variety of other piano and vocal pieces that are based on other video games and films for listeners to enjoy. You can also check out Kara Comparetto Klips live on Twitch (Saturdays at 2pm EDT and one weeknight a week), as well as on their Discord.
