With the release of various Zelda manga over the past twenty years, it comes into question as to whether an anime will eventually accompany them. The prodigious amount of Zelda manga by comic book artists Akira Himekawa provides interesting takes on storylines such as Ocarina of Time and The Minish Cap, and often deepens the compelling fantasy of the series itself. Because of this, fans of the Zelda franchise and of anime alike are no doubt curious to see what it would look like to combine the two.

Look no further than this recent fan animation of Majora’s Mask by Outcast Animation. Much like the opening sequence of popular animes, the animation flips through major characters and events, giving an overarching tease of the content to come. In this case, where the content is a title that recently celebrated the twenty year anniversary of its release, this fan animation features key moments from the game. Accompanied by a cover of “Unravel” (originally by TK) from Japanese rock group Ling Tosite Sigure, the video shows scenes like Link falling to Termina, Darmani and Mikau meeting their demise, and Link using his assortment of masks.

Although not a precursor to an entire series, the animation is a great tribute to Majora’s Mask and a fantastic showcase of the artistic creativity of Outcast Animation. What do you think of this Majora’s Mask animation? Would you like to see a Zelda anime? Let us know in the comments below!
