The

life of a speedrunner isn’t one of leisure. Some runners can log hundreds upon

hundreds of attempts for the world record title. Today is one of those days

that shows hard work and dedication can give you what you desire.

In just eighteen minutes and fifty six seconds after starting up his save

file, the famous speedrunning, pizza eating, co-founder of SpeedRunsLive,

Cosmo Wright, delivered the

final blow to Ganon and broke the world record of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time! Cosmo has held the record previously with a time of 19:15, and currently plans to improve his record

further. He runs the game on the iQue, which is essentially the Chinese

Nintendo 64. It has faster hardware and faster text than the Japanese virtual console

release, which makes the iQue version of Ocarina

of Time faster than any other version. Check out the video after the jump!

The world record speed-run time for The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker has been a title passed off between the same handful of people for a few years now, one of which being the founder of Speed Demos Archive (a speed-run site devoted to information about how to run various games), Cosmo Wright.

A month ago, Cosmo was de-throned as the world record holder by Swedish runner Demoon9 with a time of 4:34:09, two and a half minutes faster than Cosmo’s record. Now, Cosmo has reclaimed it with a time of 4:32:26. Yes, that’s four and a half hours. The runs are done live so that they can be verified, and I’ve embedded Cosmo’s new record run after the jump. Be warned, though: the video is full of coarse language.

The video and some background on the speed runner himself are after the jump!

(Correction: Cosmo is the co-founder of SpeedRunsLive, not SDA — though he IS the co-founder of Awesome Games Done Quick, an SDA production. Sorry about that!)

No matter how long a Zelda game takes or the way it is done, glitches or no glitches, the excitement involved in watching the skill of gamers break records for speed running is amazing. Earlier this year we saw a Majora’s Mask speed run record smashed and this time it was The Wind Waker’s turn to test…

The speed running community had been struck with a new record for a 100% run of Majora’s Mask with an outstanding time of 6:06:26 (6 hours 6 minutes 26 seconds). That means that ZeldaFreakGlitcha completed everything there is to do in Majora’s Mask in that time, beating Kaztalek’s previous time of 6:17:26. Every side quest was completed,…

All Zelda games have their own glitches, but I find the ones in Majora’s Mask to be particularly interesting. Some are impossibly difficult to pull off, so I’ve wracked my pea-brain to provide this list of my ten favorite glitches and/or secrets from Majora’s Mask. Here, I will guide you through some of the more accessible exploitable…

Depending how closely you followed the flood of Skyward Sword news during E3, you may or may not have heard about the time limit for the game’s dungeon demo. The demo only lasted ten minutes, meaning no one finished the dungeon in its entirety before the demo ended. Nintendo representatives on site were even consoling gamers, saying it couldn’t be done.

But a video has since surfaced proving everyone wrong.

The 72 hours are up, and the results are in.

You may remember from a few stories back that the speedrunning group, TheSpeedGamers, was going to do a seven game Zelda marathon for charity, well it happens tonight, at 7 pm Central Standard Time.
