We are one week away from the newest entry into the Zelda series, so this week, a reunited Andy and Al go over all the things that they are hoping Echoes of Wisdom includes! On the talking block this week: dungeon structure and a more linear progression, fun and intricate sidequests and collectables, outfits from Zelda’s past for Princess Zelda, the rise of a new and awesome villain, amiibo releasing down the road, a killer soundtrack, and so much more!…

With Echoes of Wisdom just weeks away, there is still one mystery looming over it; will Ganon be the game’s only villain? Trailers and promotional materials have prominently featured a showdown between Link and Ganon, presumably in Echoes of Wisdom’s introduction. Ganon is also featured on the game’s cover, so it’s clear that he is at least the main villain. However, he is shown seemingly slipping into the same Rift as Link. With Ganon in the Still World, will there…

In what may have been the worst-kept secret in the games industry, Japanese game studio Grezzo has been confirmed as a co-developer of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, alongside Nintendo EPD. Switch users who have pre-downloaded the latest Zelda game ahead of its release next week are now able to view the software’s intellectual property notices, which identity Nintendo and Grezzo as the “authors of this software for the purpose of copyright.”   Grezzo’s contributions to Echoes of…

The Zelda series has gone through formula-breaking (and at times polarizing) changes in recent years. Making Zelda the player character in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is another bold step from Nintendo. Does it signal even more gutsy changes to come? I for one wouldn’t be surprised if we see Nintendo taking more big swings in the future, like changing up the series’ art style, delving into new genres, or reimagining characters we know and love.  New Art…

Less than a week remains until the release of Echoes of Wisdom, and it appears we’re not quite done learning of bonuses that will come with the purchase of this game. Did you know that it has been almost 20 years since Tingle has graced our screens in a mainline Zelda game? First appearing as a map salesman in Majora’s Mask, Tingle quickly became a staple in the Zelda franchise throughout the early 2000s. He’d show up in Oracle of Ages, The Wind Waker, Four Swords Adventures, and a slew of spin-offs. His final mainline Zelda appearance was in 2005’s The Minish Cap. Sure, he’s made cameos in other games, such…

Each Zelda game has its own distinct musical identity that develops based on the sounds each console or handheld can output, and the philosophy of each composer or composers who work on each game. So far, the music for Echoes of Wisdom (heard through the various trailers) sounds whimsical and adventurous. One of the biggest challenges with each new Zelda game is finding the right balance between returning musical themes and brand new musical themes. It is common for some…

Zelda’s Hyrule is a vast, ever-changing land. Regions come and go across the ages, as do the people who populate them. There’s often a castle, occasionally with a town near it. There are also other settlements that dot the map in any given incarnation of the realm. Despite the few persistent aspects of each Hyrule (namely forests, rivers, caves, and mountains), change is the only real constant! Given the vast differences between each Hyrule and the characters who call them…
