Early last year, we brought you guys the story of Jordan Verner, a blind gamer who managed to beat Ocarina of Time with the help of his friends. People marveled over the dedicated player and his three diligent friends, who wrote step-by-step walkthroughs of the game to help Jordan on his way to completing the impressive task over two years.

However, another gamer has stepped forth to accomplish something even more impressive: completing Ocarina of Time blind and on his own.

For YouTube user MegaTgarrett, playing video games is not quite so easy as it is for most others. Completely blind, the dedicated gamer meticulously navigates levels others would breeze through, but he gets the job done. However, his gaming was limited to 2D games for a while. That is, until this past Spring.

On May 8th, the play-by-ear gamer posted a video in which he began a new conquest: The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time. Just as we were first able to see Link’s world in 3D, the way he sees it, Mega has developed his own method. Using a surround sound system to hear the game as Link hears it, he has navigated the first half of the game as seamlessly as any seeing person, and he’s done so with no outside assistance.

Blind gamers seem to be picking up speed these days, and having a mostly blind girlfriend myself I am very supportive of such endeavors. I’ll certainly be following MegaTgarrett as he finishes his quest, and if you’d like to follow along you can watch his conquest of the Deku Tree here:

So, is this guy a Zelda fan worthy of the highest recognition, or do you guys think he’s trying too hard? Be sure to leave your ideas in the comments!
