Have you heard? We’re getting a Hyrule Warriors game set during Tears of the Kingdom’s Imprisoning War! Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is a canonical Zelda story coming to Switch 2 later this year. It promises to bring all the hack and slash, player-versus-army mechanics of the prior two Hyrule Warrior titles to the founding of the Era of the Wild’s Hyrule. Comments I’ve seen online show the news of Age of Imprisonment took many of us by surprise. When…

The Minish Cap’s Wind Tribe’s existence didn’t begin in the sky. Its people lived on the land before turning their sights skyward to protect the Wind Element. Those same folks then left Hyrule to live in the clouds high above the kingdom.  The Wind Tribe isn’t Zelda’s only sky-dwelling group, nor is it the first in the series’ timeline. It was, however, the first one to make an appearance in a Zelda game. I was awestruck when I played The…

Nintendo of America’s Vice President of Product and Player Experience, Bill Trinen, confirmed the prices of Breath of the Wild’s and Tears of the Kingdom’s Switch 2 upgrade packs while talking to IGN. The interview covered an array of topics relating to the new console and the games announced for it. When asked about the thought process behind pricing of upgrade packs, Trinen included in his answer: For somebody who has bought Tears of the Kingdom or Breath of the…

Part of The Legend of Zelda’s appeal to me is its replayability. No matter where I am in my life, I can boot up any given Nintendo system and launch into a realm I know and love. I enjoy my regular romps through Link’s Awakening, The Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Ocarina of Time. I’m willing to bet you have at least one or two Zelda games you return to occasionally. Today, we’re looking at the other ones – the games…

The Zelda series has some great music. It’s inspired countless musicians, composers, and arrangers. It’s played in concerts around the world. And while not everyone likes every piece that’s come from the series, many adore much of it. Not all Zelda music is equal (as we’ll see in the Musical March Madness), and neither are the scores of the series’ games. For today’s Daily Debate, we’re asking you which Zelda soundtrack rises above the rest to stand the test of…

The Master Sword’s been a near-constant in Zelda since its introduction in A Link to the Past. We’ve seen it transcend systems and adventures, accompanying each Link as he sets out to best his enemy. Nearly every console Zelda title (meaning ones not relegated to a handheld system – the Switch blurs those lines) since its introduction has featured it. The series has shed some of its core tenets in the current console generation. We’ve seen a playable Princess Zelda…

Link and the rest of the Hyrule gang have popped up in more than a few non-Zelda titles over the years. Looking at Nintendo properties, we find them in games like Super Mario RPG and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, as well as franchises such as Animal Crossing, WarioWare, and Super Smash Bros.. Looking outside of the Big N’s umbrella, we see Link and the greater Zelda universe in the likes of Sonic Lost World, Soulcalibur II, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim…

We’re in that period of downtime between Zelda games. Echoes of Wisdom released last year and Nintendo has yet to announce what’s coming next for the franchise. While we’ll have Zelda on the Switch 2 eventually, the soonest we’d likely find out anything about the series on the Switch’s successor would be April’s Switch 2 Direct. If you’re eager to get back to exploring Hyrule, we have something to tide you over until Nintendo tells us what’s next. Let us…

The rumor mill’s hard at work churning speculation about the Switch 2. It’s easy to be so invested in what Nintendo’s planning for the new console that we forget there’s another important project on the horizon. The Zelda movie’s coming despite us not knowing much about it.  That lack of knowledge won’t stop our thinking and dreaming about Link’s foray onto the silver screen! We can discuss (and we have!) what Zelda story it might adapt, whether Link will speak,…

Being Hyrule’s hero must be a rough gig. Throughout his incarnations, Link turns into animals, traverses parallel realms, fights (and rides) dragons, gets resurrected from near-death, falls to (and through) the ground from on high, and so much more. He achieves most of this with some gadgets, a green tunic, and a can-do attitude. Hyrule (and its neighboring realms) is lucky to have a guy like him around for when the going gets tough. As players, we marvel at the…
