Apple and Valve may be teaming up for the next-gen race.Nintendo’s got a lot to be cautious of come this next generation. There’s no denying that the scope of the competition for video game consoles has changed, and to make a success out of a piece of hardware, the manufacturer needs to give it their all, and keep tabs on how the competitors are moving along.

Rumours of Apple developing their own console to rival Microsoft’s, Sony’s and Nintendo’s have been circulating for some time now, even years. Except, no one really thought to give the rumour much credit because, well, even though Apple has a treasure chest of successes under their belt, their history in the development of interactive software entertainment is hardly notable.

And that can only add some light to the individuals (read: stalkers) who spotted Apple CEO Tim Cook at Valve Corporation in Washington. But whatever for? Well we already know that Valve isn’t working on a ‘Steam Box’ to compete against the three next-generation consoles (at least, that’s what they claimed in March), but it seems as though an avid Steam computer engineer had posted a tweet confirming that she is working to develop hardware for the company.

Nintendo might have to compete against more than they originally sought to. More news as the rumour develops.
