Aonuma Offers an Explanation on Why There is no Female Link in Breath of the Wild
Posted on June 15 2016 by Darrin W. Harr
Some Zelda fans were hoping Link would have a female gender option to better portray him as an avatar character in Breath of the Wild. Nintendo knew this, and was considering the idea, but never went with it. Why? Well, series producer Aonuma has your answer.
“You know there’s the idea of the Triforce in the Zelda games we make. The Triforce is made up of Princess Zelda, Ganon and Link. Princess Zelda is obviously female. If we made Link a female we thought that would mess with the balance of the Triforce. That’s why we decided not to do it.” — Eiji Aonuma
I won’t offer my thoughts on the quote. Instead, I’ll let you fine folks give your opinion on how Aonuma’s answer stands. Use that comment section below!
