One of the most hotly debated things in The Legend of Zelda series is where each game fits, better known as the official Zelda timeline. Before Hyrule Historia released and we got an official answer from Nintendo, there were too many different debates to count. Even though we know that the story of Breath of the Wild takes place over at least 100 years, we still don’t precisely know where it takes place.

In a recent interview with Jeuxvideo.com, however, Eiji Aonuma revealed the tiniest bit of information about the timeline placement, though it in no way confirms or disproves anything. Here’s the full quote that he had to say:

Jeuxvideo.com : Skyward Sword, the latest installment of the series was at the very beginning of the chronology of the history of Hyrule. Where do you find this episode?

I can not yet answer this question because I want players to discover some elements of the game on their own, but you have some clues when you see that in the game there is the voice of a young person Woman who tells you that the world you are in has suffered many battles against Ganon. You can imagine roughly what period it is.

What do you think? Do you have a theory of where Breath of the Wild takes place? Let us know in the comments below!
