zelda_wii_u_eiji_aonumaYesterday Famitsu magazine teased us with an upcoming interview with Eiji Aonuma and a few others where they sit down to talk about Tri Force Heroes, a brief discussion about the Zelda franchise’s 30th Anniversary, and the upcoming Zelda title for the Wii U. The moment many of us heard the news our minds started to wander about what the “brief” conversation about Zelda U would be about! We all know that the Zelda Symphony is continuing next year with new songs from Tri Force Heroes, that the 30th Anniversary of the Zelda series is next year, and that Zelda U is also slated for release as well. But I think most of us would like some more concrete information, like an actual name for the game and an actual release date too! Alas it seems as if both of these desires might continue to elude us as Nintendo continues to hold this information very close to the belt. In a small excerpt from the interview Aonuma did ask for our faith and patience in reference to Zelda U, which I believe most of us Zelda fans will continue to grudgingly have.

“We’re doing our best. Everyday we improve it bit by bit. It is something that requires plenty of time, however, so please believe in us and wait.”

Head on past the break to see what else he had to say.

Aonuma also briefly discussed the 30th Anniversary of the franchise and what they would like to accomplish.

“This year we wanted a Majora’s Mask concert, so it is not impossible that there may be a 30th anniversary concert next year. However, as we are trying to complete the new Zelda as fast as possible, that is all that is on our minds. That being said, we hope something will take form for the 30th anniversary. It is especially important to a producer of the series, so I hope to give something everyone can look forward to next year.”

This doesn’t really give us too much to go on, however even though we had hoped we pretty much expected the information to be somewhat nonexistent, especially from the mention of the “brief” conversation in regards to Zelda U.

Fun factoid however is that Tora3 (Torasan) which has been the abbreviation given to the game in Japan came from an email that Aonuma sent to Miyamoto in which he mentioned the game as Tora3 and Miyamoto replied,“Good, good! I like it!”. “Tora” is short for “Triforce” (toraifosu) and the word “san” is for the number 3 but can also be a pun for Mr/Mrs. Triforce.

What do you think about the brief mention of Zelda U? What type of information did you expect? Sound off in the comments below.
