Those old enough to remember living in the 1980s may also recall the day that the Legend of Zelda made its continental debut in North America. The title became a phenomenon selling two million copies in only one year in the US itself and has stamped its mark as one of the greatest games of all time. Yet this isn’t the primary reason we remember this game. The one unique way Nintendo released the Legend of Zelda in North America was the fact that, instead of finding a grey cartridge in the box, the gaming giant decided on choosing gold to manufacture the title.

The beautiful golden cartridge of the Legend of Zelda came with an overwhelming amount of positive reception 25 years ago and so many memories are discussed from the the masterpiece. The golden NES cartridge remains a legacy and Nintendo would replicate the memory ten years later by releasing the golden Ocarina of Time N64 cartridge with preorders for the game. Maybe gamers were drawn towards the Legend of Zelda because it had a specially created design. What we do know though is that the gameplay has been enjoyed by millions around the world.

Do you happen to acquire a golden cartridge of the Legend of Zelda? If you were born before the title was released do you remember the impact it had in your country? What do you like best about the Legend of Zelda? Let us know in the comments.
