Nintendo to Release Official iPhone Cases

Courtesy of My Nintendo News comes word that Nintendo is on the verge of releasing Nintendo-themed iPhone cases, set to be released in October. The iPhone cases will bear designs from Nintendo’s Zelda, and Super Mario franchises. Make the jump for our rampant speculation.
I’m not going to lie, I think this is extremely exciting; does this mean that Nintendo is on the verge of getting into iOS in any way? Frankly, I don’t know, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it were so. I don’t think Nintendo would release iPhone cases if it meant they were not getting into the App store; furthermore, with the challenge imposed by Apple and their casual-gaming, $.99 price model, I would wager to say that Nintendo is feeling the heat. All this is speculation at this point, however.
So, what do you guys think? Is Nintendo about to come into the App Store with official emulators and the like? Or is this nothing but an effort at increased awareness and penetration of the Nintendo brand? Chime in on the comments below.
