The Speed Gamers Zelda Marathon

Legend of Zelda Marathon #2 this month goes to The Speed Gamers. Starting at the exact same time as the Penguins Marathons stream. This is TheSpeedGamers 4th time doing a Zelda marathon and it is their 25th marathon overall. In the 25 marathons over the years, TheSpeedGamers have raised over $280,000 for various charities. This stream is set to last 72 hours and it appears the goal is to play through almost the entire series of 15 games. Presumably this will include Skyward Sword and since it is 15 games, I assume they won’t be playing through the original Four Swords. Jump inside to see the full press release.

ARLINGTON, TEXAS – November 28, 2011 – On Friday, December 16, a group of gamers in Arlington, Texas will present their twenty-fifth marathon since their inception in early 2008. Since then, the group has raised over $280,000 for various charities and causes. Some of these charities and causes include Japan Relief, Gulf Restoration, Susan G. Komen, and the Michael J. Fox Foundation. These charities help support those in need and
help fund research towards cures for various debilitating diseases. The marathon will cover the wildly popular The Legend of Zelda series, which is coincidentally celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary this year. The marathon will benefit the Paw for Reflection Ranch (www.pawsforreflectionranch.org), Tara Sawyer Foundation (www.tarasawyer.org), and Trent’s Retreat Nonprofit Foundation(www.trentsretreat.org). All donations will go to directly to Rocking H Ranch (www.rockingh.net), which specifically contributes to these charities. Rocking H Ranch will then split up the donations equally between each charity.

TheSpeedGamers Zelda Marathon is a multi-day charity drive that is broadcasted live online. The marathon will last 72 hours and the goal is to try and complete the series before the marathon ends. The group encourages donations through great gameplay, commentary, and contests. TheSpeedGamers have been known for their summer marathons, which have lasted upwards of a stunning 168 hours and featured many huge internet personalities such as Youtube’s famous Let’s Player, ChuggaaConroy. During the event, viewers can chat directly with the team via IRC chat, or social media networks such as Twitter and Facebook.

Watch the event live on the web at www.thespeedgamers.com beginning December 16th at 6 PM CST.
