Daily Debate: Will You Replay Breath of the Wild and/or Tears of the Kingdom on Nintendo Switch 2 This Year?
Posted on April 12 2025 by Brandon Schmitz

Despite the crowded nature of today’s video game landscape, I still make sure to revisit some of my favorites throughout any given year. That said, the longer the game, the more difficult it can be to find the time for another full playthrough. Persona 5 Royal, for instance, is among my top five favorite titles; but considering its 150-hour runtime, I have completed it only twice since its release in 2020. Similarly, Tears of the Kingdom is still recent enough, as well as such a massive time commitment, that I honestly hadn’t planned on revisiting it anytime soon.
And yet, I might be returning to at least one of Link’s mainline Switch adventures sooner rather than later. The recent unveiling of Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition was more compelling than expected, with one particular element piquing my interest above all else. Certainly, the enhancements to resolution, framerates, and load times are appreciated, but they aren’t enough on their own to bring me back to either game within the next year or two.
No, what really has me tempted to jump back in is the Voice Memories feature. Scattered throughout both games, these audio Easter Eggs have the potential to provide a fair amount of insight. I’m not expecting any earth-shattering revelations to come from these; but given how badly I feel as though these particular games could use this, any effort by the developers to enrich this setting and its characters has my attention.
What about you, though? Are the additions made to these games enough to compel you to revisit either of them on Switch 2 anytime soon after they’re released? Let us know in the comments below!
