Remakes are all the rage these days when it comes to popular video games, and Zelda has already seen its fair share. We have had rereleases of major titles like The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess in high definition (complete with some extra perks). And Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask were given a fresh coat of paint and released again for the Nintendo 3DS. The most shocking remake to me, though, was the complete remake of Link’s Awakening, which updated the original’s Game Boy graphics to a more playful, adorable look on the Nintendo Switch. This decision breathed new life into a masterpiece of a game that so many fans had never gotten to experience before — which begs the question… what other top-down Zelda games should be remade in this way?

For me, my first choice would be The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap. This entry in the series is a tiny, slightly underrated masterpiece. Although it is easily accessible on Nintendo Switch Online, imagine seeing the Minish, Vaati, and that entire whimsical version of Hyrule come to life in a completely new 3D art style. This entry added the unique mechanic of shrinking down to Minish size to explore hidden areas, solid dungeons with fantastic puzzles, and an incredibly difficult yet memorable endgame. Having replayed it recently, it has definitely stood the test of time. If it was selected to be remade, I imagine that, in addition to updated visuals, even more content could be added as well, similar to other remakes. Perhaps there could be an extra dungeon, or maybe the developers could cut down the absolute tediousness of the infamous Figurine side quest.

Even though I love the colorful Game Boy Advance graphics (the nostalgia is real), I would vouch for this entry getting the Link’s Awakening remake treatment. But what do you guys think? Would you like to see a Minish Cap remake? Or would you prefer another entry get such a rerelease first? Let us know in the comments!
