Nintendo announced via the newly released Nintendo Today! app that the Legend of Zelda live-action movie will be releasing worldwide on March 26th, 2027. This comes as the first major announcement regarding the movie since it was officially announced in November 2023.
Nintendo has partnered up with Sony to bring Nintendo’s long-running adventure series to the big screen. Producer Avi Arad (Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse, Uncharted) is working in close collaboration with Shigeru Miyamoto to develop this film. Derek Connolly (Pokémon Detective Pikachu, Jurassic World series) is slated to pen the screenplay, with Wes Ball (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Maze Runner) on board to direct.
While we still know very little about this upcoming Zelda adventure, fans at least now have a time-frame for not only when this movie will finally release, but also when to expect the slew of anticipated announcements that will inevitably be made in the coming months.
The Nintendo App is starting off STRONG after only existing for 24 hours. 🤯
