Start Your Next Adventure with this Fan-Made Zelda RPG Gamebook

We’re in that period of downtime between Zelda games. Echoes of Wisdom released last year and Nintendo has yet to announce what’s coming next for the franchise. While we’ll have Zelda on the Switch 2 eventually, the soonest we’d likely find out anything about the series on the Switch’s successor would be April’s Switch 2 Direct.
If you’re eager to get back to exploring Hyrule, we have something to tide you over until Nintendo tells us what’s next. Let us introduce Zelda: Tournament of Courage, a fan-made RPG gamebook from Elonyx Media. This solo RPG casts you as Link, Prince of Hyrule and participant in the kingdom’s tournament to find the incarnation of the spirit of the hero.
The gamebook, currently a beta build, is free to download from both Elonyx Media’s website and itch.io. All you need in order to step into this Link’s boots are the gamebook, a pencil with an eraser, the supplied character sheet, and a six-sided die. Once equipped, you’ll proceed through the book like a Choose Your Own Adventure story. You’ll face off against adversaries and try to prove yourself as the new incarnation of Hyrule’s hero.
You can see more of Elonyx Media on Bluesky and YouTube. If you like Elonyx’s Zelda gamebook, be sure to check out their Metroid one, too!
What are your experiences with RPG gamebooks? Will you give Zelda: Tournament of Courage a go? If you’ve played it, how was your adventure? Head down to the comments and tell us what you think!
