Daily Debate: Would You Read a Zelda Story Told Over a Series of Novels Instead of a Game?

Everyone loves a good story. Whether that story is told visually through movies, television, and video games, or through the written word. One of my favorite hobbies, and the hobby I indulge in the most, is reading. Lately I have been enjoying reading larger fantasy series that encompass multiple books to tell one large story – think Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, or Throne of Glass. Upon starting a new series the other day it got me thinking, would you read a Zelda story told over a series of novels instead being told of a game?
As a person who genuinely loves to read it would be a resounding, yes! If you to tell me today that the next Zelda story would be told through a series of books I would have them pre-ordered in a heartbeat. I know that there are many that don’t feel that way though, and that there are many out that that don’t enjoy reading. Many Zelda games have already been adapted into manga so why a novel? I would ask you, “why not?” I wouldn’t mind reading a novelization of my favorite Zelda game, nor would I mind a complete series of novels telling a new Zelda story. A Zelda movie is in the works and one would think that we would be getting a “new” story but just a different kind of media. If you think about it, it’s not too different.
The Legend of Zelda, its lore, characters, and vast history, lends itself to being a prime candidate for a series of fantasy novels. It would be another way to introduce someone to the series if they don’t really like playing video games or don’t think they’re good at games; and for the collectors out there, could you imagine how pretty the cover artwork for a series of Zelda books would be? Maybe it’s just wishful thinking, but for me, it would be cool to see.
I want to hear your thoughts though. Would you read a Zelda story told over a series of novels instead of a game? Would you prefer a brand new story or your favorite game to be adapted? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
