Daily Debate: Which Ability From Tears of the Kingdom Do You Want to See in Future Zelda Games?

Tears of the Kingdom gave Link five new abilities; Ascend, Fuse, Recall, Ultrahand, and Autobuild. The pre-launch trailers gave hints to the capabilities and powers of all these new skills; however, it was Ultrahand that caught most people’s attention. Post-release, a search on YouTube returns the most amazing Ultrahand creations built by imaginative players around the world, although I’m not sure Nintendo would have anticipated the use of Ultrahand to launch the Korok Space Program!
However, having enjoyed using Ultrahand, particularly in conjunction with Autobuild, I was surprised when I went back to Breath of the Wild that this ability wasn’t the skill that I missed the most. While I missed Ascend to make battling Taluses a breeze, the topography meant this ability wasn’t quite as useful as it was in the Tears of the Kingdom incarnation of Hyrule, which featured many caves.
It was actually the Fuse ability that I really missed. I loved being able to enhance weapons as required using monster parts, resulting in more powerful and substantial weapons. Fuse also made it so easy to make elemental weapons; instead of trying to find a Frostblade, I could quickly Fuse a Shard of Naydra’s Spike or a Sapphire and instantly have a weapon with the power of Ice. Plus, who didn’t love being able to Fuse Keese Eyeballs/Wings onto arrows? This combination made battling the Gleeoks so much more fun.
When I was playing Echoes of Wisdom, I was really hoping there was going to be an Autobuild equivalent, as continuously building the “old bed bridge” or a similar combination of echoes did become tedious at times. Sadly, there wasn’t a comparable mechanic, which would have been an excellent addition to the game.
What are your thoughts? Which ability from Tears of the Kingdom would you like to see in a future Legend of Zelda game? Would you have liked the Autobuild ability in Echoes of Wisdom? Finally, do you miss Ultrahand over Fuse? Let us know in the comments below!
