I recently finished Echoes of Wisdom and if you’re like me you wanted to go back and find everything that you might have missed the first time around – Pieces of Heart, stamps, Might Pieces, and any missing echoes. When I rolled credits I had 118 of the 127 echoes that you could find and collect across Hyrule. My initial thought was that there were a lot of echoes, but that the number didn’t bother me so much. Now that I have collected them all I feel like maybe 127 was quite a large amount of echoes considering that to find certain echoes to use for puzzles or in battle, you would have to constantly scroll to get to it. My “frequently used” tab of my echo selection did not change very much, but now that I’m going back and rounding up the things that I’ve missed I’ve learned that there are some echoes I have collected and have not used at all.

I love the variety of echoes and that some of the echoes have different levels and cost, but other than a collection piece why do I need three different styles of beds, or different styles of pots. It just added to the number of options that I needed to scroll through to find what I was looking for. The constant scrolling really did begin to feel like a chore and I often found myself forgetting I had specific echoes or didn’t have certain echoes. I feel like some could have been condensed down into one, or left out all together. Throughout my time playing I never used the sign echo, so why have it? I also had no idea that the Leever echo existed until running back to find what I was missing after finishing the game. The final list easily could have been made shorter and would have resulted in easier navigate for the echo menu, but also leave the creative aspect of the game open for one’s interpretation for solving the various puzzles that the game boasts.

What do you think though? Did Echoes of Wisdom have too many echoes to find? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
