Daily Debate: What Zelda Game Do You Want to See Remade the Most?

Being nearly 40 years old, there are plenty of great titles in the Legend of Zelda series. There are 29 titles, to be exact. Sometimes, Nintendo releases HD versions of the 3D games, like Skyward Sword HD (2021). The most recent 3D Zelda title that was rebuilt from the ground up was Majora’s Mask 3D in 2015. which was quite a while ago. The last 2D Zelda title to be remade was Link’s Awakening (2019). With the successor to Nintendo Switch coming imminently, I would not be surprised if we received at least one remake for the next system.
Ocarina of Time is a top contender for fan’s picks to be remade. I personally would love to see this. I think the 3D version of the game holds up pretty well, but seeing Ocarina of Time with modern graphics would be a sight to behold. Another game Zelda fans would love to see redone is The Minish Cap. It’s nice that the game is included in Nintendo’s Online Expansion Pack, but there’s no currently accessible way to own it. It would also be fun to see what kind of art style Nintendo would utilize. The Minish Cap is already a beautiful game, but a new coat of paint would certainly be welcomed.
Other than Ocarina of Time, the game I would prefer to get a remake the most is Spirit Tracks. This may be a controversial pick, as the DS games are pretty polarizing. However, I think that is exactly why Spirit Tracks deserves a remake. I adore the story and soundtrack (imagine hearing a fully orchestrated version of “The Spirit Flute”), but the gameplay leaves much to be desired. I don’t want a square for square Spirit Tracks remake that’s completely faithful to the original, like Link’s Awakening 2019. I want the Zelda team to rework the gameplay and make each of the towns vibrant and lively. Despite not clicking with the gameplay in the DS game, I think Spirit Tracks has many great qualities and deserves its time to shine!
Which entry is your top pick for a Zelda remake? Would you prefer a 3D game to be remade, or a 2D one? Let us know in the comments below!
