Cooking and food have frequently been a part of the Zelda series, ever since Link had to bring some meat to a hungry Goriya in the original The Legend of  Zelda. As the games have evolved, so too has Link’s menu of tasty options to eat and drink. This concept has been fully realized in both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom with a plethora of ingredients and meals that Link can cook. Maybe you’ve wanted to eat like a citizen of Hyrule yourself, but you’re not sure where to start. Well, there’s some really awesome cookbooks out there to help you with that, and there’s a new one on the way!

Aimee Wood, author of The Unofficial Legend of Zelda Cookbook, is back for another collection of 90 (and counting!) recipes in The 2nd Unofficial Legend of Zelda Cookbook. Her first cookbook covered recipes and food from the games from 1986 to 2019. In the new book’s nine chapters, Wood will cover the foods and ingredients from Tears of the Kingdom, including cheese, tomatoes, and even Dark Clumps. Wood explains that she will not only take you through making cheesecake, but she’ll detail how to make Lon Lon cream cheese yourself!

The book’s Kickstarter campaign started on July 4th and has already exceeded its $4,000 USD goal by over 2,000% as of this writing. Eager fans have already unlocked many of the campaign’s stretch goals. Wood’s campaign also has Backer Count bonuses, so the more backers that join the campaign, the more themed menus and recipes will be added to the book.

If you check out the campaign, be sure to scroll down to find The Boss Fight, a truly unique Backer Quest. Backers can earn empty Heart Containers to add their name t0 the book’s “thank you” section by spreading the word about the campaign. You can even try the Taste Test Quests to fill those Heart Containers by trying some early versions of the recipes. One of the Taste Test Quests includes cheesemaking, and Wood will be demonstrating how to make Hateno Cheddar Cheese on Twitch in August.

You can support The 2nd Unofficial Legend of Zelda Cookbook on Kickstarter right here.

I received the Royal Master Edition of the first cookbook as a gift, and it is truly a treasure. The recipes are detailed and include many fun and touching insights about the food and the Zelda series from Wood herself. She even includes many options for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options for adventurers of all kinds. I really like the themed menu ideas. I’m planning on having the Hylian Royal Menu for my birthday this year.

What do you think? Have you tried any of the recipes in the first Unofficial Legend of Zelda Cookbook? Will you try to complete any of the Backer or Taste Test Quests? Let us know in the comments!
