Daily Debate: If Zelda’s Dungeons Existed in Real Life, Which One Would You Be Most Afraid of Exploring?

Folks, it’s high time for us to take a step back and appreciate Link’s status as a courageous hero. When I consider some of the locales – dungeons, especially – he has traversed throughout the years, I’m surprised he doesn’t just face the camera and say “Nope. Not going in there.” Honestly, I don’t know how this guy does it, all while remaining so calm.
With that said, let’s put ourselves in his boots today – not as the puppeteer pulling his strings from another dimension, but as Link himself. Consider a scenario in which all of the Zelda series’ dungeons actually exist; we’ll even say that you’re equipped with more or less the same gear Link would’ve had for each dungeon. Still, despite having all the necessary tools at my disposal, the thought of exploring most of these temples in real life remains pretty terrifying.
Three in particular are absolute no-goes, and they’re all from Twilight Princess: Arbiter’s Grounds, City in the Sky, and the Temple of Time. Seriously, between the darkness, heights, and spiders, we’re talking about three of the most primal fears. And if I could weasel my way out of having to enter only one of those, then I’d pick the one in the clouds. On its surface, City in the Sky doesn’t seem likely to top most people’s All-Time Scariest Zelda Dungeons list, but c’mon – despite how secure Link makes that double-clawshot look, there’s no way anyone could convince me to use that. Couple that with the inconsistencies in wind speed, and it’s an instant “nuh-uh” from me.
What about you, though? Whether it’s due to the atmosphere, the types of enemies, or its proximity to Earth’s surface, which dungeon would you be most terrified of exploring in real-time? Let us know in the comments below!
