Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword vs. Twilight Princess
Posted on October 15 2011 by Vince
Ever wonder if The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will live up to its predecessor? Chief Nintendo editor at IGN, Rich George has recently written an article to see how Link’s new Wii adventure fairs to his previous one. Despite the complaints people may have about Twilight Princess I doubt any of them could deny that it was a great game in the Zelda series; and that it sets a high standard in what Skyward Sword has to top. George, does a pretty great job in comparing the two games in his article he matches up areas of the game head to head such as swordplay, tone, graphics, bosses, scope, and more.

In the department of swordplay Skyward Sword clearly has the upper hand here. Seeing that Twilight Princess was developed and released prior to the Wii motion plus it is clear that the motion tracking is not as accurate. But let’s not forget what Twilight Princess did for the series, it was the first time players had the ability to feel like they were actually Link by swinging/waggling that Wiimote. Despite that though the editor still gives Skyward’s 1:1 motion tracking the edge. Tone is also an important aspect of a game as well. Although the narrative seems a lot more richer in Skyward Sword it seems to lack that dire urgent state in which Hyrule needs the Hero of Time to save the day like Twilight Princess had. Pacing and dungeons seem to have been much improved in Skyward according to IGN but things like scope and boss fights need some catching up to do. Many have criticized Twilight Princess for being way to easy in the area of boss battles. However, George states one thing about boss fights in Twilight Princess that I couldn’t agree more on..
Note that many of Georges opinions are merely off his 8-9 hour session with Skyward Sword so there is much more to look forward to in the near future.
So what do you guys think? What do you like about Skyward Sword, and Twilight Princess? What are some of your dissapointments with both games so far? Please post your comments below!
