Breath of the Wild is filled to the brim with callbacks to other Zelda games. Whether it be locations like Kakariko Village that have recurred since A Link to the Past or sights like the statues of the Goddess Hylia that were carried over from the more recent Skyward Sword, fans of all tastes are bound to find some reference to their favorite Zelda game. A quite notable one is the inclusion of the forest-dwelling Koroks, appearing for the first time since The Wind Waker.

This recent fan animation by Shar depicts the Koroks and their role in Breath of the Wild. It shows Link exploring the many corners of Hyrule and finding the small creatures under rocks or behind different types of puzzles. A small collectible in the game itself, Korok Seeds allow Link to expand his inventory. After collecting all 900 seeds, Link is rewarded  with Hestu’s special gift — an event which comes to life at the creative hands of the digital artist.

Accompanied by music by Axl Lee and additional sound effects from Breath of the Wild and ZapSplat.com, the animation clocks in at only thirty three seconds. Although short, this animated montage based around Korok-hunting hijinks in Breath of the Wild proves that good things come in all shapes and sizes.
