Greetings, everyone! The 2016 Summer Olympics may be about ready to end, but Zelda Informer’s weekly Photoshop Contest will continue to carry on the spirit of competition. For the past few weeks, athletes from all around the world have gathered together in Rio to demonstrate their physical prowess. With so much athleticism on display, I couldn’t help but wonder which Zelda character could make it as an Olympic competitor. So this week, we want to throw some of the series’ best into the arena. Carry the torch of creativity this week by showcasing your ‘shopping skills, as we showcase the winners of last week’s contest: Ruin a Historical Event with the Skull Kid.

Last Week’s Contest:

We saw perhaps the best collection of entries during last week’s contest, which asked contestants to ruin an event from history by inserting the mischievous Skull Kid.

We can only showcase so many entries here, so please go back to last week’s page and see them all.

Challenge Mode

The Ocarina of Time can only cause so much damage, so last week’s Challenge Mode demanded Skull Kid use two more time-based Zelda items as well. Artist Tripp Dinger took up the challenge by showing the mischievous imp as he interrupts one of the most important moments in human history. We shiver at the thought of Neil Armstrong stepping on to the moon for the first time to find the Skull Kid — with the Ocarina of Time, the Gate of Time, and Linkle’s watch — waiting to cause a ruckus. We’ve all played Majora’s Mask; we all know why the imp is on the moon. This great shop works on so many levels and deserves to be called the winner this week.

This Week’s Contest: Link and the Gang at the Olympic Games

To be honest, I was having trouble coming up with a theme for this week’s contest. That is, I was having trouble until I saw my sister watching the Rio Olympics Wednesday morning. How could I forget one of the most important international events of the year? Obviously, we have to do something for the Olympics.

The contest this week is to enter a character (or characters) from the Zelda series into the Rio Olympic Games. Luckily, with the games almost over, there are plenty of images I can use from the past few weeks to fill up our gallery below. Feel free to use those if you’d like, but you may also use anything else may find on the internet.

General Rules: Submit your entries in the comments section below.

  • To save images from the gallery, right click the image in the gallery (without opening the image in lightbox) and select open image in new tab. Go up to the address bar and delete __small from the URL. Hit enter, right click, and save!
  • Photoshop is not required to enter the contest. Any image manipulation software can be used to create your entry.
  • Some hand-drawn fan art is okay, but your entry must include some image manipulation to be considered.
  • If you use another fan’s original assets or likeness, please try to give them credit.
  • Please refrain from using offensive material (racial, sexual, overuse of offensive language, etc.) We want to make the contest fun and accessible for fans of all ages.
  • Everyone is entitled to their own opinion at Zelda Informer. In fact, we encourage discussion based on those opinions. However, please do not insult other fans’ work. What may be funny to one person may not hold true for another…and that’s OK.
  • Have fun and be creative!

Deadline: Submit entries no later than Thursday at midnight: 11:59 p.m. PST on August 25. Entries submitted after this Deadline will not be considered.

Challenge Mode

For those that who want to test their skills with something more challenging, we have a few Challenge Rules for you to follow:

1. Your entry must include both Sonic the Hedgehog and Mario.

2. Your entry must include a new Olympic event that could only exist in Hyrule.

If you think you’re up to the challenge, include the phrase Challenge Accepted with your submission. Remember, Challenge Mode submissions follow the same rules and guidelines of the base Photoshop Contest in addition to the Challenge Rules.

Good luck!
