Before you jump in looking for brand new material that you haven’t seen before… there isn’t anything new here. Gamescom is basically the German version of E3, but scaled back a bit. Now in its 3rd year of existence, it’s been a large event for some exhibitors, but never much for Nintendo. This year Nintendo is showing off a number of games they previously had available at E3 2011, including Ocarina of Time 3D and Skyward Sword. Unfortunately it’s the same three-part demo of Skyward Sword that we’ve seen before, but here is some quality footage of the bird-flying and the boss battle modes.

One thing worth noting is that the Nintendo Wii U is a no-show at this years event… which to me is a good thing. My biggest disappointment at E3 2011 this year was that Nintendo seemed to completely ignore the Nintendo Wii and any games that they were developing for it. They barely showed any of their upcoming Wii titles and instead, focused a lot of attention on the 3DS side of things, as well as the Nintendo Wii U. I think this really stole some of the thunder away from Skyward Sword, since there seemed to be just as much interest in the Zelda Wii U tech demo as there was for Skyward Sword. Nevertheless, I think the Wii U will now take a complete backseat as Nintendo begins to start their holiday season lineup push, with Skyward Sword being the Wii game that will be featured front and center.

Skyward Sword is set for release on November 18th in Europe and November 20th here in the United States. Here at Zelda Dungeon we will be providing a full blown Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword Walkthrough right at release, as well as providing all the up to date news and media, so be sure to stay tuned over the coming months. Until then, feel free to comment on any goodies that you saw in this latest piece of footage that you might have missed before.
