There have been multiple gamers who over the last few months played through Ocarina of Time in their own unique ways. Some have played Ocarina of Time blindfolded, others sped through it in style, while even one completely blind person has successfully beaten the game. Twitch gamer Monotone Tim decided to get through this Zelda title with one of the most iconic instruments in the series’ history.
What Tim decided to do was take his old ocarina that he got as a kid and modify it to work as a fully functional controller. Because Monotone Tim is using an ocarina controller, he has to play through Ocarina of Time using a Nintendo 64 emulator. You can tell from watching this recorded stream that the emulator helps Monotone Tim get through the game a bit easier considering that he can use the save state system.
Every time you hear him “blow” a button, the game footage just shows how sensitive the controls are when using a musical instrument. Just getting across a narrow bridge with Link (or DOOT in this playthrough) is a challenge in itself. By the end of the stream, Monotome Tim manages to successfully beat Dodongo’s Cavern in under six hours.
What do you think of this feat? What is your favorite unique way someone has beaten a Zelda game? Let us know in the comments below.
