Daily Debate: What Other Franchises Should Zelda Crossover With?
Posted on September 09 2014 by Jackson Murphy
Ah, yeah. It’s Jackson’s turn to takeover the Daily Debate. There is no Nate, only Zuul!
The Legend of Zelda has had its fair share of crossover Easter eggs. Whether it be Link’s cap showing up in Kirby games, to Zelda’s jingle playing in Super Mario 3D Land, to Link racing alongside Baby Rosalina and Pink Gold Peach in Mario Kart 8, the population of Hyrule has found its way into little nooks and crannies of other franchises throughout its history.
Now, we’re nearing the launch of a crossover of proportions never before seen in Zelda. Hyrule Warriors is about to reach the western world. The unique cross of Zelda and Dynasty Warriors is set to shake up the formula of both franchises, while also providing a ton of fan service to Nintendo lovers.
With the launch of
Hyrule Warriors incoming, what other franchises would you like to see Zelda crossover with?
Personally, my first choice is a crossover with the Arkham franchise by Warner Bros. I’m not saying I want Batman in my Zelda games (though that would be something, wouldn’t it?). What I do want is the formula of Arkham City built into a Zelda world. Have the game take place in the seven years Link is asleep during Ocarina of Time. You play as Sheik, who must stop the crime in Castle Town, while also leading a small revolution and concealing your identity. I would love to play as Sheik and jump off of tall buildings to beat up baddies while grabbing new gadgets to conceal myself.
Another idea is The Legend of Zelda X Fire Emblem. It seems so obvious, at least to me. Both are Nintendo franchises and both have feudal settings with knights and dragons and swords and such. If Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem is a success (or if it ever comes out), then I would love to see this pop up next.
The possibilities are endless.
Maybe a Sim City set in Hyrule.
Or The Legend of Zelda: Skyrim Sword.
Or Need for Speed: Epona Pursuit.
Or Grand Theft Horsie.
Or Uncharted 5: Search for the Triforce
Or Plants vs. Zombies vs. Cuccos.
Or Hyrule Kombat.
Or JellyCar 3: ChuChu Edition.
…
I think I have a problem, guys.
