In ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild|Breath of the Wild]]'', the Master Sword was wielded by [[Link (Breath of the Wild)|Link]] prior to the [[Great Calamity]], after he was discovered to be worthy of drawing the blade from its pedestal in [[Korok Forest]]. In "[[Subdued Ceremony]]", the speech recited by [[Zelda (Breath of the Wild)|Zelda]] states that the Sword is bound to the spirit of the hero, and whether "skyward bound", "adrift in time", or "steeped in the glowing embers of twilight", it always comes to aid him. In "[[Resolve and Grief]]", Zelda reveals that she can hear the Master Sword talk to her, presumably referring to Fi.
