Speedrunner Takes a Year-Long Journey to Complete Ocarina of Time Blindfolded

One of the most precious things that we have as a gamer are our senses. Whether its our sight to see the amazing things that we’re accomplishing, or even hearing the wonderful sounds of the world’s we explore. Our senses are the key to exploring all of the games that we play. An Ocarina of Time speedrunner that goes by runnerguy2489 decided to restrict one of his most vital senses in order to accomplish something that a lot of Zelda fans dare not try. This speedrunner has done the near impossible and completed a 100% playthrough of the Ocarina of Time…blindfolded.
Starting in September 2014, runnerguy2489 set off to accomplish this task by doing this quest piece-by-piece, once a week, for over a year. To accomplish this blindfold task and to prove to his viewers that he’s not cheating, runnerguy2489 turns off his computer monitors and his TV screen. In order to insure even more that he’s not cheating, he even goes so far as to put a thick green pillowcase over his head. The only thing that this speedrunner can rely on to get through this task is hearing as he only uses his headset.
While the playthrough was long and excruciating at times, runnerguy2489 finally managed to complete his journey as you can see in the video above. Since 2009 he’s been doing speedrunning on Ocarina of Time and to truly accomplish something like this takes great skill. If you want to check out the earlier parts of this run, just head on over to the playlist he has on his YouTube channel.
It’s important to note he did this run in dedication to another person who is blind and can only tell when the lights are turned on, but nothing more.
Would did you think of this playthrough? Would you ever attempt a blindfolded run of one of your favorite games? Let us know in the comments below!
