Jodenstone Sets New OoT Speedrun Record, Completes Game in Under 18 Minutes
Posted on March 16 2015 by Rod Lloyd
We know that the front page has seen many speedrun posts in the last few weeks, but with the discovery of a new trick, Ocarina of Time speedrunners have been diligently refining the current Any% route. After skater82297’s impressive world record of 18 minutes and 3 seconds, the goal among OoT speedrunners has been to be the first person ever to complete the game in less than 18 minutes. Well history has been made, as speedrunner Jodenstone has reached this goal and completed the game in 17 minutes and 55 seconds.
Speedrunners like Jodenstone and skater82297 have been grinding all weekend for a chance at a sub 18 minute run. The route involves a series of difficult glitches and time-saving techniques in and around the Deku Tree. With a bit of good luck, Jodenstone was able to perform the new Deku Nut glitch very quickly as well as skip down Ganon’s Tower on his first attempt. With these tricks executed, Jodenstone defeated Ganon as the clock reached 17 minutes and 55 seconds.
As the credits rolled, the runner celebrated his achievement and explained he may take a break from Ocarina of Time speedruns for a while. Jodenstone’s time has yet to be verified, but is expected to be soon.
Have a bit of patience and consideration in the comments with this one. For many, this is an outstanding and historical achievement. But anyway, share your thoughts and praises in the comments.
