Hyrule Warriors Has Shipped Over 1 Million Units Worldwide

When Hyrule Warriors was coming to be, even Eiji Aonuma, the current producer of the series, was a little nervous. This was an unprecedented move for Nintendo, taking one of their most cherished franchises and teaming up with another group to turn out a different entry. While this was certainly a gamble, the sales data regarding the crossover title that we received last week suggested that it’s turning out for the best. Now, with an official announcement from Koei Tecmo, we can rest easy knowing that Hyrule Warriors is indeed surpassing expectations.
Earlier today, Koei Tecmo came out with the exciting news that Hyrule Warriors has shipped over one million copies, worldwide. To celebrate this achievement, they’ve released six wallpapers, available to all for download and conveniently placed in the gallery below, including some particularly great retro ones. While this isn’t the amount sold, it certainly reflects well the popularity this game as amassed since its release. . With the good news continuing to roll in, “Hyrule Warriors 2″ is starting to seem like less and less of a pipe dream, although we’ll likely have to wait for some time until we hear anything more regarding a sequel.
With the Majora’s Mask DLC releasing within the next week and a half in all territories, there’s still plenty of reasons to keep charging your way through hordes of foes as your favorite Zelda characters.
