Daily Debate: Should Link and Zelda Be Married in a Future Zelda Game?
Posted on March 19 2015 by Darrin W. Harr
I don’t know about you, but all throughout Skyward Sword I was yelling, “just kiss already!” at my TV screen. A relationship between Link and Zelda has always been implied in the Zelda series, but should they ever be an official couple in a Zelda game, or even married?
Saving Zelda would have more importance if they were married. Link would not just be trying to save Princess Zelda for the good of Hyrule, but he would also be trying to save his wife. The player would feel more meaning in the process of rescuing Zelda, instead of saying, “wait, why do I care about her again?”
Link would also be royalty. There would be no need to go rupee-hunting to get that next wallet expansion, Link would be a prince or a king. He would already have as many rupees as he could ever desire. He could command armies, and lead troops into battle. He could take out a rescue party of Hyrule‘s finest soldiers to find his beloved spouse and save her from a terrible fate.
Needless to say, Link’s status of royalty would change a lot of things. Do you think Link and Zelda should be married in a future Zelda game? Join the Daily Debate in the comments below.
