Jokabi shared a few interesting details about the inspiration for Zelda’s Lofi Kingdom:

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was released on my birthday while I was traveling Japan for the first time. I was especially hyped about this game and it didn’t take long for me to fall in love with it and its soundtrack… My trip through Japan had its influence on the production, and it was while traveling I decided to make a traditional Japanese folk music inspired remix of Fairy Fountain. Some of the flutes in the tracks are “Dadis” or “Shakuhachis” which are traditional bamboo flutes from China and Japan.

This is a perfect listen for studying, working, or just chilling on a rainy day with some soup. You can find this album on Spotify, YouTube, YouTube Music, Apple Music, Tidal, Beatport, Amazon Music, and Deezer.

I think this album serves the perfect amount of chillness and excitement. It’s not too upbeat, but it keeps a steady pace and stays fresh and interesting to listen to all throughout. My personal favorite track is “Gerudo Town;” I wouldn’t have expected the original theme to transpose to the lofi genre so well, but Jokabi and Mikel masterfully strung it together.

Jokabi is a hip hop producer with a focus on nostalgic lofi beats; on his personal channel, he posts covers alongside original compositions. We’ve covered some of his previous releases in the past, including Chilltendo and Chilltendo IIMikel, Jokabi’s brother, is the producer of the Zelda & Chill trilogy, Poké & Chill and The Ghibli Tape. If lofi music and video game covers are up your alley, go check out their work!
