Breath of the Wild Runes(The New Items of Zelda)

Within Zelda Wii U, the biggest thing I have noticed that there are not any items in the traditional sense.

All of your items, are Apps on your Sheikah Slate. Very much non-traditional as even the Sheikah bombs do not have any ammunition.

However, here is a big portion of this. You get these Runes within the Sheikah Shrines of the game. In that you scan your Sheikah slate to get these applications unlocked before you do the dungeon...

And with this. Aonuma has seemingly fixed the problems of non-linear dungeon order and items. Because if you go to a Sheikah Shrine without the proper items, it will automatically add it to your inventory before you start.

This way, Items are left completely to the player to find by skill(unlike Ravio's Shop) because these Sheikah Shrines are hard to find and get to. But it doesn't sacrifice not having items in a dungeon.

I think this is ingenious in itself.

The runes thus far shown have nearly limitless potential and they can be used nearly anywhere in the overworld and the dungeons. So lets go down the list!

Bombs! You know them, you love them. You can choose when they detonate. So you can have complete control of the situations! They roll, they have a good time! You can go bomb fishing as well! You can use these for blowing up stuff, and for combat. They are no longer limited by collecting bombs as well!

SQUARE BOMBS: Obviously the biggest innovation of Zelda U! Bombs.... THAT ARE SQUARE. These allow you to just place these bombs on the ground without them rolling. You can choose when they detonate. These can be used as mines to lead enemies in and blow them up. Nevertheless, these little guys are cool!

Magnet: Making a long awaited return from Minish Cap. Magnets come back, and can attach to literally anything metal! I'm serious! Giant spiked balls, got it. Chests? Got it. Cogs? Got it. You can also use the magnet to pick up large metal objects to create cover for yourself, or you can even crush enemies.

Stasis: This Rune, is awesome. This stops object in time. Now here's the thing too. If you deliver force to an object in this time, its going to feel all that force all at once and be launched if you hit it a lot.

Crios(The name of this one may be wrong so apologies forum dwellers): This is basically an ice/water rods! You can create platforms anywhere to climb on. They are pretty cool! You can make these to make cover for yourself, and reach high places!

So what do you guys think of the concept of Runes and how they are executed? Do you guys like this new concept for items in the Zelda Universe?

So far from what we've seen, the concept of runes is nothing short of badass. The acquisition is simple enough. The real quesiton is, how are they going to be implemented if at all in the actual dungeons of the game? Aonuma confirmed a few hours ago that someone can rush straight to Calamity Ganon right from hte very beginning if they wanted. So what does that mean for the actual duneons? We'll have to wait and see.

Basically Diablo 3 runes in conecept and execution. I think it's am amazing idea to have in a Zelda game. So what if it's an idea from an other game reused. It just seems to work here so well.

I have thuoghts about this. "it will automatically add it to your inventory before you start." as you say. This means you have the rune stored away but can't use it obviously cause you don't have the base ability/items yet. Like for example, say you have found a bomb rune but do not have access to bombs yet. You keep the rune but can't use it till you find the ability to use bombs? That's how it works ya?

No.
Runes are "Apps" on the Sheikah Slate. And once you visit a Sheikah Shrine, you put your Sheikah Slate upon a pedestal of which the Rune downloads onto your slate. Of which, you will have the ability to use bombs any time that you want(bombs are also unlimited by the way, they just work on a timer).

I've seen the video. I know how it is, as do you. Yeah I know they are on a timer too. It's pretty cool. Call them apps or runes, they are the same thing. You just said the same thing I did just in a different way.
