I at first was not certain as to whether is t was a simple rerelease or not. After watching this, I think it's handled very well. There seems to be a loads more of new content in addition to the potential old content. This definitely bolsters its status from my perspective, which could hook those already owning 8 for anger round up, but who's to say yet, I suppose!

"and that was when Mario Kart became Super Smash Kart"

They seemed to show off that balloon fighting game in hapeavy frequency, but it's nice to see. Reminds me of the battle mode in Mickey's Speedway USA on the 64. Now that game was a good time!

Extremely disappointing from my perspective. It's not like Splatoon, which is a brand new entry. This is literally Mario Kart 8 with Inkling characters. It's incredibly lazy, and if I weren't already on board simply because of Zelda and Xenoblade, this would go a long way to making me not get a Switch.

The returning items are neat, I like the additional characters (it never made sense to cut Bowser Jr. or Dry Bones), and the new stages look nice. I've never really cared about Battle Mode in any Mario Kart title, but it's nice to have for the people that enjoy it. This doesn't seem like a system-seller by any means, especially to people who already own Mario Kart 8, although it's probably a definite pick-up for anybody who will get a Switch regardless.

And this was when the Mario Kart franchise took a huge leap forward, then tripped and fell backward. There is NO reason for them to release the same game with two new characters (WOW!) and a battle mode that should've been in the original. That, combined with the new paid online, is gonna make this a huge flop.

Zero new racing tracks though.
