You decide to go through the left hall. As you walk through the cold, dark hallway, the sound of sword clashes gets louder and you begin to hear grunts and screeches. As you progress through the hall, you get closer and closer to the sound. You then hear a loud screech, the ground shakes — silence. You see the end of the hall open into a large foggy area. You can see nothing beyond the thick fog; you can only hear the quiet sound of heavy panting. You see a blue light coming from the ground and a dark shadow of a person standing up and walking into the light. You call out to the person, but he seems to have vanished.

You look down and notice you are standing on the pincer of a giant scorpion like monster. You fall back out of fear. You observe that the monster is dead. You stand up and walk across the giant room, towards the blue light. With a little hesitation, you decide to walk into the light. You are then blinded by the brightness of a vast forest, and feel the warmth of the sun heating your skin. You made it out of the dungeon, battered and bloody, yet still in one piece. But the story does not end here my friend, you presented with another dilemma, WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?!?

You start wandering through this forest, having no idea where you are. You follow the footprints of boots through the forest, hoping to find the valiant man that slew the creature back in the dungeon. Seconds turn into minutes, minutes turn into hours. The sky that was once shaded with dusk, is now shaded with dawn. You are frightened by the sound of howling. You don’t what kind monsters lurk through these woods in the twilight. You are starving. You begin losing hope in finding this man. Suddenly, your nose picks up a scent of cooked meat. Excitedly, you begin follow the scent, but stop, noticing that you have strayed away from the footprints. Here we go again.

You must come to a decision. The footprints may lead to the man in the dungeon; he may be able to tell you where you are and even defend you from monsters you may have to face in these woods. At the same time, you are severely wounded, hungry, and have no idea how managed to stay alive for this long. The scent might lead you to some food, or maybe even shelter. The choice is yours. What will it be, the Footprints or the Scent?

Rapin' your churches, burnin' your women!
Finally!!! I've been waiting for this.

Anyway, the cooked meat could be other people or savage monsters that are smart enough to make a fire. The footprints, on the other hand, are obviously human (Hylien?) and you would have a better chance fallowing them.

I would follow the footprints. The scent could be a monsters dinner, while the footprints could still lead to the man, who,if found, would give you a much better chance of survival.
