So the Deku Spear, I'm sure you can agree that someone from the forest should have first pick at it. Since the Great Deku Tree is spawned by it, and he is the guardian of the Koroks and Kokiri, specifically, it should have gone to one of them. Either Makar from Wind Waker, or Saria from Ocarina of Time, since they are the most prominent members of their species.
Then there is the oversized Kokiri Sword Young Link has. That exact Link has an oversized two handed weapon already, the Great Fairy's Sword, so there was no reason to waste the Kokiri Sword here.
The regular sized Kokiri Sword would work really well for Saria, or if they chose Makar for the Deku Spear, then it would work well for him as well, and it would have the upgrades as follows:
Kokiri Sword+Deku Shield, Razor Sword+Hero's Shield (Majora's Mask), and then Gilded Sword+Mirror Shield (Majora's Mask).
The point I'm making, is it seems really weird that Saria and/or Makar aren't playable in the game. So were they ever considered at one point or another?
